Many people ask me, “Andie, how can you be a vegetarian AND a chef?” Well, for starters, I’m not a chef— yet. So, I haven’t really had to experience any hardship in my future profession. Second, restaurants in my area tend to be vegetarian and vegan-friendly, due to the fact that I live in a metropolitan area. When I am eating at home, there are many different ingredients and plant-based protein options available to me at several grocery stores in the area and online. I also have a hard time digesting meat and meat products. I even used to have bumps all over my arms when I ate meat; that disappeared when I stopped. Basically, I don’t eat meat because it is my choice and I chose it for health reasons. I haven’t found any problem with my diet yet, and I will continue my vegetarian diet until I find that it is no longer in my best interest.
